Appeals
| MD Special Circumstances Appeal Form | Financial aid applications for the 2026–2027 academic year are standardly evaluated using tax returns and W-2 forms from two years prior (2024). If your current household resources are significantly different than they were in 2024, you may submit this form along with your 2025 tax documentation to request a formal review. Please note that appeals are subject to strict institutional approval or denial, and our office very rarely uses projected estimates for an uncompleted calendar year to determine need-based aid eligibility. Finally, because need-based institutional scholarships are tied directly to changing family income, students should expect their funding amounts to fluctuate from year to year; completed forms and required documents should be emailed to md_finaid@brown.edu for review. |
| MD Cost of Attendance Appeal Form | The Cost of Attendance Adjustment Appeal Form allows students to formally petition for a budget increase to cover unforeseen, non-discretionary educational or living expenses. All requests are subject to approval or denial, and students must provide comprehensive, itemized receipts and proof of payment in their own name. To encourage fiscal responsibility and minimize student loan indebtedness, certain strict guardrails apply; for example, single-occupancy leases that exceed our standard housing allowance will not be considered. Once you have gathered your documentation, please email your completed form and receipts to md_finaid@brown.edu for our team to review. |
