American Business Women's Association (ABWA) Foundation
Scholarships and loans are offered by ABWA through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Fund. Scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000. Candidates for special scholarships need not be sponsored by a chapter and information about the scholarship is mailed to designated universities each year. For more information, visit the website.
American Medical Women's Association (AMWA)
AMWA awards 4 (four) $1000 scholarships to women currently enrolled in medical school. Awardees will be chosen based on the embodiment of the goals of AMWA. Financial need, though not a requirement, is also considered. Applications are accepted during two periods of the academic year: August 1-September 30 and November 1- December 15. Anne C. Carter Global Health Fellowship
American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) honors the memory of Anne C. Carter, MD, with an annual award for outstanding student leadership. The recipient will receive $1000, and the nominating chapter, if applicable, will also receive $1000. The annual nomination deadline is October 1. Details can be found at website.
Daughters of American Revolution Medical Scholarships
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, DC, is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Eligibility requirements: minimum 3.25 GPA, enrolled in graduate-level medical school, demonstrated financial need and US citizen. Award: $5,000. Applications must be postmarked by February 15. Dr. Marie E. Zakrzewski Medical Scholarship (MA)
The Dr. Marie E. Zakrzewski Medical Scholarship of $3,500 is awarded each year to a young woman of Polish ancestry for first, second, or third year of medical studies at an accredited school of medicine in the United States and who have a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship is open to female residents of the state of Massachusetts. Selection is based on academic excellence, the applicant's academic achievements, interest, motivation, interest in Polish subjects and involvement in the Polish American community. Financial need is taken into consideration. First preference is given to residents of the state of Massachusetts. Qualified residents of New England are considered if no first preference candidates apply. Application cycle begins October - December.
FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship Program
FINCAD has long believed that deep market knowledge, transparency and trustworthiness play critical roles in making financial markets safe for all participants, emphasizing women. For these reasons, this annual scholarship encourages and supports outstanding women in the field of finance with focus on use of derivatives in capital markets and/or financial risk management. Award: $10,000. Eligibility: open to all women of any age and citizenship who are studying graduate-level Finance. Application Deadline: February 27. Website.
Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund
This fund provides scholarships for women, preferably Jewish, to obtain professional educations. Grant distributions range from $2,000-$8,000 and are administered by a local bank. The money is sent directly to the recipient's school to be used for tuition only. Applications available on website. Application deadline: May 14.
Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship
The AMA Foundation, in partnership with the AMA Women Physicians Section Congress (WPS), has established the Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship program. Research scholarship of $10,000 with goal of promoting women in the medical profession and strengthening the ability of the AMA to identify and address the needs and interests of women physicians and medical students. Leah J. Dickstein MD Award
Sponsored by the Association of Women Psychiatrists, the Leah J. Dickstein award is open to female medical students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, creativity, and leadership. The recipient is invited to the AWP Annual Meeting to receive the award and present her work. ScrubCaps for a Cause
ScrubCaps for a Cause is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting the education of women in Medical School though scholarships to be used toward their education costs. Wellesley College Scholarships
Two scholarships are available for women medical students. Applications and instructions may be found at website. M.A. Cartland Shackford Medical Fellowship-Applicants may be graduates of any US college and be enrolled in any accredited US medical school. The award amount is $11,000 "for the study of medicine with a view to general practice, not psychiatry." Sarah Perry Wood Medical Fellowship-Available to Wellesley graduates only who are accepted or enrolled in a medical program. Award amount up to $71,000. Application deadline: December 1.
Women in Medicine (WIM)
Women in Medicine (WIM) will present three $5,000 Leadership Scholarships for female medical students enrolled in allopathic, osteopathic, or naturopathic medical schools in the United States or Canada this year. Scholarships presented at the annual WIM meeting, with expectation that medical students will be present to receive their awards. Applicants should be in good academic standing, and have actively contributed/demonstrated leadership for the LGBTQ+ community. Applications are due April 19th. For more information, visit website.
