AMA Underrepresented in Medicine, formerly the Minority Scholars Award
Medical student tuition assistance scholarships offered through the AMA Foundation. This program not only encourages diversity in medicine and the elimination of health care disparities, but also rewards outstanding academic excellence, leadership activities and a dedication to serving vulnerable or underserved populations. Each scholarship is in the amount of a $10,000. Nominee must be a rising fourth year medical student, a permanent resident or citizen of the U.S and from traditionally underrepresented groups in the medical profession. Charles Lauffer Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are for 3rd and 4th year medical students in good academic standing who need financial assistance for completion of their education. Awards will be distributed directly to your institution for your benefit. Contact AMS OFA or Marc Mauro, VP of Philanthropic Solutions. Please email application to marc.mauro@bofa.com as they are no longer accepting them via regular mail. Application deadline: July 1.
Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund Scholarship
The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund scholarship program is an annual, merit-based competition open to civilian federal and postal employees, their spouses and college-age dependents. Scholarships range from $500 to $2,500. The top students in each region have the chance to win two additional awards. Sponsors must have at least three years of service by August of the application year. Application Deadline: last Friday in March. Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award, The
$1,1500 scholarships will be awarded to Golden Key members pursuing post-baccalaureate studies. Awards are based on academic achievement, Golden Key involvement and extracurricular activities. Application deadlines vary, most recent deadline was mid-June. Website has additional information and application materials.
Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarship (AAMC)
Five $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students entering their third year of medical school who have shown leadership in efforts to eliminate inequities in medical education and health care and demonstrated leadership efforts in addressing educational, societal, and health care needs of minorities in the United States. Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and nominated by the medical school. Nomination Packets Due: April 1. View website for details.
Leopold Schepp Foundation
Maximum award is $8,500. There is a two step application process. Candidates must meet a variety of conditions to be eligible. Minimum 3.2 on 4.0 GPA scale. Graduate students must be under 40 years of age at the time of application. A personal interview in New York City is required of all applicants for which travel expenses are not reimbursed. More information about the scholarship is available on website. There is no specific deadline but students should apply early in the year.
Sylvia Parkinson Fund
The Sylvia Parkinson Fund is designated for medical students: "the scholarships are for the benefit of those deserving medical students and prospective medical students chosen for scholarships to fully accredited medical schools.....as the Board of Directors deems advisable." The award amount is $2,000-5,000

- The scholarship website will re-launch in November 2024 with scholarship applications for the 2025-26 academic year.
Tillman Scholar
The Pat Tillman Foundation unites and empowers a diverse community of remarkable military veterans and spouses as the next generation of public and private sector leaders committed to service beyond self. Tillman Scholars are chosen based on merit. Strong applicants demonstrate clear academic goals, extraordinary leadership potential, and a deep desire to create positive change. Tillman Scholars can expect to receive annual funding to assist with academic expenses, including tuition, books, and living expenses. White Coat Investor Scholarship
The White Coat Investor Scholarship offers over $60,000 in scholarship money and prizes and is available to medical, dental, and other professional degree students. As a way to "pay it forward," the author of this financial book wants to directly assist professional students in minimizing the financial burdens of your training.
